The Gas Distribution Access Rule (GDAR) has wide-ranging implications for the way gas distributors conduct business with gas vendors/marketers. The GDAR establishes fundamental principles for access to distribution services and standard business practices including billing and service transaction requests. The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has established a GDAR EBT Standards Working Group to develop Electronic Business Transaction (EBT) standards for the gas market. The new standards may require modifications to existing communications infrastructures, billing systems and business processes, or investment in entirely new systems.
